The Minnesota Center for Philosophy of Science (MCPS), founded by Herbert Feigl in 1953, promotes excellence in research and training in philosophy of science and related empirical studies of science. The Center promotes research internationally by bringing together scholars to participate in joint research projects, the results of which are published in Minnesota Studies in Philosophy of Science. It advances research and training locally by leading discussion groups comprised of faculty and graduate students from a broad range of departments at the University of Minnesota and area colleges and universities, by hosting visiting fellows, and by organizing a number of local events including a colloquium in the philosophy of science and science studies. These events draw attention to research conducted in science studies and draw internationally acclaimed scholars from around the world to the University of Minnesota.
